Antarctica

Background

In late 2013, Air New Zealand launched a global search to find an environmental enthusiast who would share the wonders of the Antarctic frozen continent with the world.

Australian student filmmaker Marli Lopez-Hope and Kiwi ‘outdoorsman’ Michael Armstrong were selected from amongst 2,000 applicants to share this adventure. Accompanying them was renowned National Geographic photographer Jason Edwards. Our challenge was to tell their epic story, combining the undeniable emotional impact of the frozen continent with the serious environmental science of this Antarctic mission.

Working to an extremely tight timeline, we produced a modern responsive website in five languages, accessible across desktop, mobile and tablet devices.

Social and Sexy

Integrated with Sina Weibo, China’s popular social media network, the campaign featured gorgeous animations utilising modern web techniques. Users wrote love letters across the Tekapo sky.

Work Example

Defeating the Tyranny of Choice

Everyone travels differently, so we needed options for customisation but we wanted to be careful not to overwhelm the customer with the tyranny of choice that plagues so many travel sites. Travellers with Pure Journeys can choose between dozens of road trips, but the configuration and options of those trips are flexible, including accommodation quality, hire car types and the experiences they book along the journey.
